Jakarta, Indonesia (CNN) -- Three people on a plane in an Indonesian airport were injured Thursday during a panic that ensued after smoke was seen coming from an engine, an official said.
The incident started when passengers at Ngurah Rai International Airport in southern Bali said they saw smoke coming from the plane, said Bambang Ervan, the spokesman, for the ministry of transportation.
"They panicked and demanded the cabin crew open the emergency exit door. Some of them jumped off the plane before the slider came out," said Ervan.
The three were taken to a hospital, and the plane was scheduled to be inspected, Ervan said. Emergency officials did not confirm that there was a fire on the plane, Ervan said.
