Jakbym takiego dorwał, to bym mu nogi z d*** powyrywał.We regret to inform the flight simulation community that on Tuesday, May 12, AVSIM was hacked and effectively destroyed. The method of the hack makes recovery difficult, if not impossible, to recover from. Both servers, that is the library / email and web site / forum servers were attacked. AVSIM is totally offline at this time and we expect to be so for some time to come. We are not able to predict when we will be back online, if we can come back at all. We will post more news as we are able to in the coming days and weeks.

Szczegóły w poniżej zacytowanym poście Tom'a.
Today we were able to bring back online the original AVSIM Forums that had been backed up until just before the hack took place. Our tech team has been working long hours since the wee hours of last Friday, when we started the installation process of the new servers, removing the trashed servers, and putting humpty dumpty back together again.
How did we recover the forums data? Simple... The hacker was an idiot and incompetent. Beyond that, for obvious reasons, I am only going to say that we did have backups that were either totally intact, or were there sufficiently enough for us to regain data. What remained allowed us to regather 100% of the forums.
We have recovered about 90% of the File Library and all of the WEB site. The library files go back to FS98. That should be sufficient to make everyone happy, and all those web sites that in someway link into the library should see their links start to work again, once we can bring the library back into service.
Okay, so... Where do we stand today? Today we have the two new servers online and are working to establish zones, cgi, and all the "infrastructure" to get our web site operational again. We expect to have the complete WEB Site back online by late this coming Thursday (the 28th). The library will take a little longer (it is far more complex).
In addition to the two G5's, we have brought back online a system to use as a DEV box. Development of the library and Steve Stratton's efforts with the new web site will take place there. We have removed the main disks from what had been GREEN and PURPLE and will have them forensically investigated. Once we can swap around some disks, we will reload them with a new OS, and bring them online as more virtual servers for expansion and further scaling.
As some point in the next week or so, we'll have pretty much an AVSIM that you will recognize. However, we are not going to stop there. Steve's working on modernizing our WEB Site, and we have kicked off efforts to redesign our library. We will be posting more news on those soon.
Some things will be noticeably changed. The speed of response by the forums, the WEB Site and when it comes back online, the library, are going to be noticeably faster. We have opened up our "pipe" and you should see file transfers much improved over what had been seen in the library before the crash.
We can't thank the community enough for your emotional and financial support and hanging in there with us throughout this ugly period in AVSIM's history. We are confident that the payback for the community will be a much improved and growing AVSIM. Thank you, again.

A więc żyje!AVSIM File Library Back!
Posted: Sunday, July 26, 2009 - 19:44
After over two months of hard work by our volunteers, we are pleased to announce that the file library is back online and providing downloads for the community. We are going to keep the upload function off for a while in order to assess the stability of the system and work out any bugs that may remain. We believe we recovered over 95% of the library system, and you may find some things missing. Please post any comments or questions you may have in the File Library Forum. Thank you for your patience during this period.
